The energy of Mary Magdalene is calling to many and is very strong on the planet today as we move more into the time of clearing the old patriarchal structures present on the planet. This energy is beckoning to both women and men as this call is getting stronger. It is a time on the planet where much is needed from those who are here to hold the space of the shift of consciousness that is occurring.

Who is this woman called Mary Magdalene often referred to as “The Apostle to the Apostles” and what was her role in early Christianity?

What was the role Mary Magdalene played with the disciples within the context of the beliefs about women during the life of Jesus?  The society at the time very much believed that women were inferior to men.    Why were the male disciples so jealous of her?  What was her role as the partner of Christ?   One of my favourite books on the topic is Cynthia Bourgeault’s “The Meaning of Mary Magdalene – Discovering the Woman at the Heart of Christianity”  In this podcast interview I dive into some of the wisdom shared in the book.

In June 2006 Pope Francis elevated her to a feast day on July 22 finally dispelling the sinner label that was carried for so long.    It was long deserved and interestingly enough July 22, 1209 was the day that the Albigensian crusade against the Cathars,  ordered by Pope Innocent III, entered Beziers massacring almost 20,000 people burning and looting the city.
